A feng shui tour of the Klang Valley #18

MERDEKA MEMORIES

Stadium Merdeka was a purpose-built facility and holds great significance to Malaysians. When Tunku Abdul Rahman got the agreement of the British government to grant Malaya independence, he had the stadium constructed so that it can be used as the venue for the historic Declaration of Independence.

In so doing, our first Prime Minister made a landmark of the stadium and the hill on which it sits. Stadium Merdeka was the premier venue for football during the national team’s heyday. It also served as the home ground for the Selangor team until it moved to Shah Alam.

The hill is lined by Jalan Maharajalela on the south. The landform continues to slope down until it reaches another hilly terrain, where Kampung Attap and the old Wisma Putra are located. To the west, we have the Klang River flowing south
